The annual change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 0.2% in February, a value 0.2 percentage points higher as compared to January. According to data released by the INE on Wednesday, the monthly change in the CPI was -0.1% (-1.4% in January and 0.3% in February). As for the average variation in the last 12 months stood at 0.3% negative.

Transport stood out as one of the classes that contributed negatively, with a negative annual variation of 2.8%, “influenced largely by sub-subset of fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment”, says the institute. Still, the lowering of prices in these products moderated enough to face what had happened in January, a month with an annual change of -4.2%.

The clothing and footwear also had a negative contribution, with an annual change of -1.8% (-1.5% in January); already the recreation and culture recorded year change of -1.5% in February (-1.3% in the previous month).
