The index that measures labor costs increased 1.2% between April and June. Wage costs increased 1.5%, compared to the same period last year, and other costs increased 0.2%.

Labor costs increased by 1.2% between April and June, the second consecutive quarter, revealed this Friday, August 14, the National Statistics Institute (INE). In the first quarter, the increase was 4.5%.

The two main components of labor costs are labor costs and other costs (per effective hour worked). Wage costs increased 1.5%, compared to the same period last year, and other costs increased 0.2%.

In the private sector, labor costs rose 2.4% in the second quarter compared with the same period last year. Labor costs (per hour worked) increased by 2.9% (due primarily to increases in base salaries and regular bonuses and allowances) and other costs increased 0.5%.

Already in other economic activities, which include mainly, but not exclusively, the activities of the public sector of the economy, there was a 0.3% annual decrease.

The Salarias costs showed the most significant increase in construction (5.6%), then the industry (3.5%) and services (2%).
