The number of Portuguese who online purchase doubled in five years to 2.7 million in 2014, the year that e-commerce had revenues of € 2.9 billion, according to a study of ACEPI what is now released.

According to the study ‘Digital Economy in Portugal 2009-2020′, which will be presented this morning by ACEPI – Association of the Digital Economy, “more than a quarter of the population” in Portugal “buying on the Internet”.

The number of Portuguese who shop on the Internet has doubled in the last five years, reaching 2.7 million.

According to the study, in 2020, the number of Portuguese buyers ‘online’ reaches 4.5 million.

The number of Internet users in the Portuguese market grew nearly 40% between 2009 and 2014, to 6.9 million, it is estimated that in 2020 amounts to 8.7 million people.

“Currently, more than two thirds of its population uses the Internet,” says the study, which is published as part of Internet Week in Portugal 2015 (Portugal Internet Week), organized by the Association of the Digital Economy, chaired by Alexandre Nilo Fonseca.
