The savings of Portuguese households continue to increase, reaching in August, the highest since February 2015. This indicator stood last month at 77.0 points, 0.9 points more than in July this year.

According to the data of the Portuguese Association of Investment Funds, Pensions and Wealth (APFIPP) and the Catholic University, the save indicator stood at 77.0 points last month, an increase of 0.9 points compared to July this year.

This indicator has been increasing gradually since May, when it reversed the trend of drop between February and April.

Despite having increased in August, the fact is that this remains below values recorded in September 2014 (80.9 points) and February 2015 (80.1).

The trend saving of Portuguese families “went into negative territory in mid-2012, although it continues from this very close to zero date,” says the report, adding that it “expresses that on average, the trend of household savings has declined very slightly, in% of GDP since then. ”
