The energy of citizens, communities or countries can not be employed only on economic growth but on the ability to distribute equitably the wealth, knowledge, work, leisure and time. And that’s slow movement.

Challenge the culture of speed, accumulation, the frenzy, the quantity over quality. Not to try to impose its opposite, but to restore balance in the different areas of life. The slow aims to protect a scarce movement that cuts across everything we do – time – wondering about how we manage and we do it. This is not to deny the technology, the welfare achievements or positive aspects of globalization, but to make them allies in the goal of sustainability. This is not to make the apology of slowness or face the negatively work, but to praise the reinvigoration that can arise when you live in a format they know when you need to slow down or speed up, not letting the slow if become stagnant, even hyperactivity becomes obsession.

The time has become the unit of measure of everything, even of space. No longer speak of kilometric distances, but travel time: three hours of flight. Two train. Four car.

The theories about time and rhythm are recurrent throughout history. But in the last decade partly by reaction to the speed of service, demand fair weather has been revalued. (Read more)
