Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho said, this Thursday, the Bank of Portugal forecasts show that economic recovery is being “more robust” allowing “think in the medium term with more optimism and more confidence.”
“There are forecasts that, I think, essentially confirm that the recovery that we are seeing in Portugal is a more robust recovery than he was a few months ago,” said Passos Coelho told reporters, off a visit to the University of Kyoto, Japan, where he began an official three-day visit.
For these numbers, the head of government said the executive, for now, remains the presented forecasts.
“That does not mean we do not see every day for reasons, first, verify that our recovery is to be better than expected a few months ago and that, therefore, we can think in the medium term with more optimism and more confidence especially when we know that our exports will have a more important role as the engine of growth, “he said.
Passos Coelho stressed that the forecasts of the central bank pointed out that “the investment is to return with more force.”
“This is important, because we will not have sustainable growth without investment is not just for people consume more and there may be an expansion of our domestic consumption that our GDP and our economy can develop more, it [economy] can only be developed to the extent that there is more income, so more investment and more jobs, “he said.
